Flying the flag in Glasgow

EDEN Diabetes UK 16

The training and education offered by the Leicester Diabetes Centre (LDC) in partnership with the University of Leicester was promoted last week at a leading conference.

A team of five manned a stand at the annual Diabetes UK Professional Conference, which took place at the SECC in Glasgow from Wednesday, March 2, to Friday, March 4.

They highlighted and fielded questions about the Effective Diabetes Education Now! (EDEN) education programme for healthcare professionals, delivered by LDC, and the postgraduate short courses in diabetes. EDEN Lead Laura Willcocks said:

We were inundated with people interested in the healthcare professional training programme as well as the postgraduate courses. With the increase in Type 2 diabetes, the NHS needs to be in a position to offer optimum care to help people manage their condition and avoid costly and devastating complications.

Based at a leading international centre of excellence in diabetes research and education, we are ideally positioned to upskill healthcare professionals working in diabetes.

EDEN is a comprehensive training package, which provides knowledge and skills to deliver high levels of diabetes care to patients in the community. The postgraduate short courses are delivered by the LDC and the university and help healthcare professionals develop clinical and academic skills to become an expert practitioner in diabetes.
