EDEN Sanofi Cares Programme

Diabetes Education Programmes – Healthcare Professionals

Sanofi Cares is a national diabetes education programme for health and social care staff. It provides a comprehensive, competency-based programme, which includes a knowledge and confidence framework. In collaboration with Sanofi, EDEN has provided virtual diabetes training based on the EDEN Cares programme. The aim is to standardise care across the United Kingdom for all those in care home and domiciliary settings, ensuring that good quality care is standard, reducing variation, and improving the quality of diabetes care. The programme was launched on the 1st of May 2021.

Fiona Munday said: “I am truly honoured to be nominated and shortlisted for the Outstanding Educator in Diabetes award. Thank you to everyone who has voted for me. I have a passion for healthcare professional education that enables individuals to provide the best diabetes care.”

James Ridgeway, Education and Research Associate, EDEN said: “We are delighted that our Cares diabetes education programme has been shortlisted. The programme is designed specifically for care staff working in care home and domiciliary settings and has enabled health and social care staff to access free education. Resulting in improving participants’ knowledge and confidence, and subsequently helping to reduce the number of hospital admissions, GP/paramedic callouts and also the number of community nursing visits to administer insulin.”

Laura Willcocks, Lead for HCP Education and Training, EDEN, said: “Wow! We are overwhelmed with the team’s achievements and delighted to have received such recognition from the QiC Diabetes Awards. Fiona is a true asset to the NHS because of the outstanding education that she provides and her shortlist is well deserved. The Cares programme is an exemplary project that we are very proud of; the education is second to none and the frontline results are exactly where we wanted the programme to take us.”
